Rotary Blade Alternative

I don't remember where I first saw this (I'm guessing pinterest), but I've been wanting to try this for a long time. Did you know that professional carpet installers also use rotary cutters? Yep! And did you know that they use a 45mm size that will fit your fabric rotary cutter? Yep!

Now comes the best news of all - a 2 pack only costs $1.99. CRAZY, I know!!

I would have tried them sooner but the only place I know where to find them is Harbor Freight Tools and we didn't have a store near us until now. They have very mixed reviews from quilters - some say they worked great, others say that they were awful so the jury is still out. So far, the one I put in my Olfa cutter works beautifully. I'll have to keep you posted as to how they hold up and whether I purchase more. Here's hoping, because it's an incredible deal.

  1. I hope they work. I delay changing blades longer than I should because they are so expensive here.

  2. swa-wing! Even if they worked 'ok', I bet they would be fantastic for cutting paper, cardboard, and other materials too. We have a HF here, will have to go by sometime. :)

  3. Wow, great tip - I'm going to go talk with my hubby about it now so we'll both remember the next time we are in town by HF! Keep us posted on how they work!

  6. That would clear up some of the budget for fabric :). Hope this continues to work as 1.99 is SOOOOOO much cheaper even than the sale price.
