A Farewell Gift

A few weeks ago I was very saddened to learn that my boss and friend had accepted a new position at a performing arts center in Michigan. My first thought was how is this native Floridian going to survive Michigan winters? My second thought was what I could make for him to remember me and the arts center where we'd worked together for the last 4+ years?

Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for him and I know he'll do well on his new career adventure, but work won't be the same without him. That's why I decided to make him a mini with the Dr. Phillips Center logo on it.

This abstract symbol was inspired by the four-beat motion of a conductor’s baton. The mini is 9.5" square, the perfect size to put on the wall of his new office. Safe travels my friend, and I look forward to seeing you when you come home to visit.

  1. What a great memento! I love the logo and how you used it. Great size. My favorite part is the quilting, I like the off-center waves.

  2. Hi Diana! What an absolutely perfect and thoughtful gift for your coworker and friend. I know he will appreciate the double meaning behind the symbol, and each time he looks at it he will smile. Remembering all he good times you shared together makes it an even more special piece. I hope you added a label or signed it somehow! ~smile~ Roseanne
