Hey You! Give Me Back My Mojo!

I don't know where it went but I've officially misplaced my sewing mojo. Either that or someone stole it when I wasn't looking. I have various projects that I need to finish up and new ones that need to be started but I'm just in a sewing rut. When school started up again, I couldn't get into my sewing room fast enough. Maybe I went at it too hard. I don't know. It's not that I don't want to sew but I keep hitting little roadblocks, and then a lack of motivation sets in. I'm not sure how to quilt my A4A top, I've run out of my sashing fabric for my pinwheel quilt, and I don't want to start another large project until I finish at least one of these first.

Also, Halloween is fast approaching and that means I need to work on a costume for my son. Given some of his sensory issues, he won't wear a costume if it feels too much like a costume. Plus, I much prefer the idea of making a costume than just buying one off the rack of a discount store. Last year he went as a pirate and the year before that he was a sheep. That sheep costume is still my favorite (you should have seen that adorable tail in the back!).

This year he wants to be Kermit the Frog. It actually should be a pretty easy project consisting mainly of a green sweatshirt, green pants, and some crafty accessories. I've got 90% of what I need already so hopefully my mojo will come back just long enough for me to put it all together.

  1. I am totally with you. . . maybe my sewing mojo and your sewing mojo are partying it up together in the same place! :) I even pulled everything for a new PPing project, printed everything out, looked at it and promptly went back to my computer and read more blogs.... If you find yours and mine is there, could you send it back to me? :)

  3. I totally understand where you are, I am in the same place. The first part of the year I was rocking and rolling, then the heat of summer really got to me. Now that it has cooled off I just don't want to work on the things I need to do. Now I can get into doing lots of other projects, but I have 4 memory quilts I need to finish and I will get some work done on them, and then I just totally lose interest. I'm hoping my mojo returns soon and if it does I'll tell it's brother to head your way.

  4. I've been finding I tend to lose my sewjo when I'm forcing myself to work on projects. If I have deadlines for bees etc, or if I tell myself "finish these old things" then it's like my brain just wants to be "I don't wanna" and I tend to be happier starting something new, or something not on my list. But I'm at a place right now where I don't want to start new things because I'll never finish my list an my list is starting to stress me out so I want to finish it no matter what my motivation is!!

  5. Not guilty I am afraid I would never steel your mojo as you motivate me. Do hope it turns up have you looked in the washing basket or maybe it is in the freezer

  6. It must have something to do with the change of season because it's been really tough for me too: I really want to sew but I don't know where to start from... Your costumes are brilliant, looking forward to seeing Kermit!

  7. I think Kermit will be a brilliant outfit, but watch out – it might be trickier than you think. 'It's not easy being green!' :)
I hope the sewing mojo returns.
